On October 14, 2008 the Durham Cruisers held their 3rd annual golf classic at the Black Diamond Golf Course. While none of us are ready to join the pro tour anytime soon, we all certainly had a fun day chasing golf balls all over the course.
On August 12, 2007 approx. 36 DC Members rode to Ben Twiddy's home to welcome him into the Durham Cruiser Club as an Honorary member. Later, Ben and his mother enjoyed a motorcycle ride around town and were treated to ice cream at the local Dairy Queen. Ben is a real fighter and should be an inspiration to us all. He has surely gained many new friends.
It was a hot day in August - too hot to take time out to wash our own bikes - so we headed over to the local car wash. Low and behold we came across a bevy of beauties that were only too eager to help us out. In fact, they went above and beyond, when they agreed to help one of members get his personal chrome polished. As you can see, we had a great deal of fun. Be sure that you check out the video as well.
On July 15,2007, Charles & Pat McCrae led a group of DC members on a scenic ride to the Big Chute, which is part of the Trent-Severn Waterways. Part of the marine railway, The Big Chute is a unique carraige system that carries boats up or down 18 metres/60 feet to the other side of the rapids.
On July 7, 2007 we held our 5th annual poker run and it was our most successful poker run to date. Approx. 280 riders showed up to support our event, that featured the live band Code Green. The proceeds raised will go towards supporting our two main charities, The Big Brothers and Sisters of Clarington and the Veteran's Grant a Wish Program. Over 100 prizes were won by the participants - good fun was had by all.
On June 22, 2007 approx. 50 DC members attended the Ride For Sight at Centennial Park in Trenton. We had a leisurely ride to the park on Friday morning and watched the parade as it entered the park on Saturday. We enjoyed the festivities including the Suzuki Motorcycle Stunt team and the two headliners, Kim Mitchell and David Wilcox. A great time was had by all.
On June 21, 2007 over 30 DC members joined up to escort Bulldog's & K.C.'s daughter to her graduation ceremony. I'm sure her grand entrance will not be guickly forgotten. Congratulations Ashley.
