Presidents Message

The Durham Cruisers are a family-oriented group of motorcycle enthusiasts that are based in and around the Durham area. We have members from all over including Toronto, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Bowmanville and surrounding areas. We're a non profit organization trying to promote a positive image for motorcyclists! We are a non-political group of riders that just want to enjoy ourselves. There are no secret handshakes, and nothing is mandatory except the rules of the road and common courtesy. We don't have a lot of silly rules, we just ask that people who ride with us act responsibly, don't have or give attitudes, look to positively promote safe riding and foster a genuine friendship with their fellow Club Members.
We were founded in 2001 on the basis of bonding common interests relating to motorcycling and our communities. We wanted a group of people that would have a say in the direction the Club wanted to go. Decisions for and about the Club are made by the Club, not just by a select few.
On most weekends you'll find us supporting a variety of charity rides, cruising the back roads and supporting our community events. We also enjoy Tuesday night cruises to Peterborough, Wednesday night's to Crabby Joe's and Thursday night's at Haugen's in Manchester. We are always cruising through our beautiful country roads in search of safe and scenic routes for our riders to enjoy! Some of our Members have attended such events as Bike Week in Daytona, Americade, Sturgis, Laconia, Canada's 911 Ride, the Red,White and Blue Toy ride, the Ride For Dad, the Durham Hogs Heart of Gold ride, the Blue Ridge Mountains, Biketoberfest, trips to the east coast and several over night weekend rides, not to mention weekly rides to wherever the wind happens to take us.
We welcome all Cruisers, Sport Touring and full size Touring bikes in our club. You must be Sponsored into the Club by a full time member and then complete an application (We want you to tell us about yourself, formally) We don't care where you live, or what brand you ride. We do care that you are sociable, courteous, considerate, and respectful of others. People who join our club are not just members, they are our representatives. And we do care about the people who represent us.
Our Club had attracted 40 Members in it's first year of operation including 10 women riders with their own Bikes, and we welcome more to join us. Since then we have grown to around 100 Members and still have around 20% Lady Riders with their own bikes.
We have had many club related events such as: family Bowling days, Halloween parties for both the “little" children & the "big" ones, surprise birthday parties, Christmas parties, pool parties, golf tournaments, Texas Hold'em tournaments, drive-in movies, breakfast & dinner get-together's and several weekend get-a-way tours. Many more events are planned for the future!
Since our first year as a Club, we have raised more than $120,000 for the Ride for Sight, won numerous awards at charity events for "Largest Club Turnout", won the MAX Award for Best Regional Club and even won the Best Club Display 3 years in a row at the International Bike Show held in January each year. Many of our members have also won trophies for their bikes in various bike shows and events.
